Log In to the Website
If you’re not yet logged-in to the website, visit http://pack536lubbock.org/login and click the “Log In” button.
Enter your username and password.
You will then be taken to the Admin area (the “behind the scenes” of the website), and will be viewing the Dashboard, an overview of information about Pack536Lubbock.org.
(Alternatively, if you’ve already logged in, you can access the Dashboard by clicking Pack 536 of Lubbock, then Dashboard at the top-left of your screen.)
Create Your New Post
On the left-hand side of the screen, hover over (or click) Posts, then Add New.
Add Text and Formatting
In the Add New Post window, enter the super-awesome title and super-awesome text of your post.
- You can format your text with colors, underlining, etc. by clicking the appropriate buttons above the text editor.
- It is considered good posting practice to outline or structure your post using Headings (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) as appropriate, rather than relying on bold, italic, underlined, or colored text.
- For example, the title of this very tutorial is formatted as a Heading 1, and each subsection is begun with a Heading 2 or Heading 3 as appropriate.
If your new post is something like a trip report or showing off the fun we’ve had at one of our recent events, you’ll likely want to add some photos to your post.
The easiest way to do this is to click Add Media.
Display Multiple Photos as a Photo Gallery
If you’re wanting to display multiple photos, the best thing to do next is to click Create Gallery.
At that point you may upload as many images as you wish. (Maximum image dimension of no more than about 1200 pixels in width and height is recommended, but not critical.) Once the images have been uploaded to the website, click Create a new gallery in the lower right corner.
Select the options for your new Gallery. We recommend selecting Link To: None and Type: Tiled Mosaic.
Finally, click Insert Gallery. This will insert your newly-created gallery in your post. You can then edit it, delete it, or replace it with an entirely different gallery if you wish.
Select Appropriate Categories
Select any categories that apply to the post you are creating. This will help site visitors find the news they’re looking for.
Be sure to select the “Photo Galleries” category if you’d like your post to be included in our Photo Galleries page.
Add a Featured Image
This is optional, but draws more attention to your post and makes it look better on our website.
Click Set featured image.
You may then select an image that’s already on the website, select one of the images you’ve inserted into your post (if any), or upload an entirely separate image for this.
Publish Your Post
Click the Publish button to publish your post and make it publicly viewable on the website immediately.
Alternatively, you can choose to save your post as an unpublished Draft, or schedule it to be published at a later time.
Depending on your access level, you may see a Submit for Review button instead. In this case your post will be queued for moderation by site administrators before being made public.
That’s it! Easy peasy!
